UITV.INFO > about

Objective

This site contains academic and research resources about interactive television. The main objective is to make dispersed resources widely available and to create a forum for communication.

Audience

This site is mainly targeted to researchers through articles, papers and conferences, but you can also find news and editorial opinion. We have chosen to focus initially on the research community (academics, industry researchers and developers, hobbyists), after we came to realize that interactive television demands a diverse and demanding set of skills. Other groups that interested in interactive television may be addressed in the future.

Rationale

This site was founded in June 2002 by Konstantinos Chorianopoulos, as a remedy to the scarcity of information regarding interactive television research that could be found on the Internet. One year later, June 2003, the site was providing access to more than 150 papers about interactive television. UITV stands for Understanding Interactive Television, which used to be the original descriptive name of the web site, when it was founded. It was changed in January 2004, in order to provide a short name (uitv) matched to the respective domain name (uitv.info).
