Abstract
Many people, already familiar with receiving audio/video content by broadcast TV, are nowadays also accustomed to Web-based interaction with multimedia information via a networked PC. In parallel, evolution in technology has led to the cross-integration of formerly completely separate transmission channels. Wired and wireless networks within the home, and external access to services via cable, terrestrial and satellite networks have become areas of convergence. This is the setting for interactive types of media and services to be applicable soon for a broad public base. Media as Interactive TV (iTV) and Interactive Video present challenges to content design and the design of usable applications. Although the components are well-known, the composition of video content transmission with interaction and communication facilities shapes new ways of interacting with information and people.
