Fabio Pittarello (2002). Time-Pillars: a 3D Cooperative Paradigm for the TV Domain. Proceedings of the AHÂ’2002 Workshop on Personalization in Future TV pp.. http://www.di.unito.it/~liliana/TV02/completeProceedings.pdf

Abstract
This work analyses the points of weakness of the current interaction paradigm for the TV user and proposes a new model based on interaction inside a 3D information-rich environment. We introduce a new artifact, the timepillar, to populate the 3D environment; we propose it as a mark-up of specific TV channels, representing the basis of a new interaction metaphor that allow the user to explore and to summarize the contents of the TV domain. If we consider the digital TV domain, another important issue for the average user it is the difficulty to find information related to all the available channels. Therefore we propose, as a further step, a cooperative approach that uses convergence between different media (TV, personal computer, Internet) to share TV information among different subjects (broadcasters, groups of interest, private users).
