Abstract
Real-time incoming video such as broadcast television programming is a rich source of up-to-date information. This paper proposes a system that offers an intuitive and efficient access interface to a real-time incoming video stream based on automatic indexing. The system buffers the incoming real-time video in the Video Stream Pool, and provides several interface modes for browsing and accessing the video. The processing architecture and a practical implementation which overcomes the inherent problems of real-time processing is also described. Finally, we present a prototype system, called TV Ram, that enables us to browse the programming of the last 24-hours on one channel.
