Introduction to Interactive Digital Television , EuroITV 2007

Interactive TV research has elaborated on the development of broadcast protocols, multimedia applications and user interfaces for TV. These are worthwhile aspirations, but the interactive TV experience has become more pervasive than what is implied by broadcast, usability and the traditinal TV set. Emerging scenarios include mobile TV, peer-to-peer distribution, and the design of social and affective quality in the user interface. This tutorial re-defines TV and interactive TV in the context of converging technologies, and describes the state-of-the-art and research agendas for novel interactive TV products.
